The John Dudley McDonald family lived in Plano from the early 1900s. Mr. McDonald came to Texas from Fayetteville, Tennessee. He married Lucy Sanders who was from McKinney, Texas. They married and farmed land on the Haggard Place, in Plano. They built a home and moved to the Douglass Community in the early 1930s. Their home was on the site of Ave and 13th St.

Mr. McDonald died in Plano in 1939 and Mrs. Lucy McDonald died in Plano, in the 1950s. Their children, all born and raised in Plano, were: Jimmie Ruth McDonald Phillip, John Dudley “Buddy” McDonald Jr, Elwena McDonald Lewis, Mattie Lou McDonald Lawrence, Mary Kate McDonald Standifer, Clinton Coss “Cossie” McDonald. The family belonged to Shiloh Baptist Church.
